The Cable Bay.
en_ Up to now we didn't have to time to talk about it but we suddenly felt the urge to share with you our return trip to get the van last week :)
After 6 weeks of sun, it rained that day, according to the inhabitants it was becoming necessary. It was our first New Zealandish rain. The weather was particularly hot until now -it should normally be that hot during January.
We hired a car and went up North, driving through the heart of the South Island, its countryside, mountains, vegetation which was quite dry and yellow up to now it became greener and lush.. :)
When we arrived in Nelson, we found that it was way more charming than Christchurch. All the horizon is hilly, surrounded by small mountains and there is, of course, calm and blue water like a huge mirror.
While visiting a van, we went on some curvy roads in a greenish valley with some golden grass, we also met our first sheep and drove up to a beautiful bay.
The Cable Bay. A small uninhabited island linked by a small path which create an interior bay between the hills. Only living inhabitants are the sheep and their continuous “baa” through the bay.. (truly unbelievable how they never stop :p except when the wind is strong enough to cover it).
We'll certainly take more time next time to explore this area a little deeper but here is already a small insight.
